Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg was raised in Wellington and made her debut in the role of Flora McGrath when she played the character in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 years old for Best Supporting Actress. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was a Canadian born New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won an Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the talkative and inquisitive girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the honor. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 film adaptation for television of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding as well as a small role as Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). Also, she played the role of a teen girl named Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
